Sammy is thrilled to be invited to join distinguished trombonist Conrad Herwig for this wonderful summer show. The Village of Montebello is proud to announce our Third Annual Jazz Festival at Village Hall on August 30, 2026, from 1 pm – 6pm. In addition to Sammy Conrad has invited pianist Bill O'Connell and drummer Robby Ameen. Other artists on the bill include the Richie Morales Quartet and Henrik Meurkens Samba Jazz Quartet.

In his off-Broadway debut Sammy joins the cast of The Potluck,a play about the Greensboro Massacre in 1979, where five labor organizers were murdered at a protest in the streets of Greensboro, NC, by members of the KKK and the American Nazi Party. The Potluck is a new musical featuring a 12 person intergenerational cast that conjures the soft side of the revolution, and tells a story about what to do when the government is actually trying to kill you. Presented by Soho Repertory and INTAR Latin American Theater.

Sammy Figueroa joins legendary drummer Steve Jordan and vibes player Juan Diego Villalobos in a tribute to Cal Tjader at the Jazz Foundation of America's Great Night Gala. Other artists that night will include Norah Jones, Patrice Rushen and Buster Williams.

Sammy's good friend Chandrika Tandon brings her beautiful voice and chants to Didi Krishna's event "Lead Life With Purpose". Sammy joins Chandrika's traditional instrumentation with his special small cajon from Pitchslap.

Sammy joins his old friend Yankee center fielder and excellent guitarist Bernie Williams in a special event with the Florida Grand Opera, combining sports, jazz, pop and opera.

Jazz Club of Sarasota hosts the John Pizzarelli Trio as part of the Sarasota Jazz Festival, a ticketed, members-only event at 7:00 PM, showcasing the renowned guitarist and his group, while the broader festival (March 9-14, 2026) features stars like Terrell Stafford, Arturo Sandoval, and Sammy Figueroa with events like a Trolley Pub Crawl. The Friday Night Main Stage Concert is headlined by the John Pizzarelli Trio. The Sammy Figueroa Band will open.

From Kind of Blue to Bitches Brew: A Miles Davis Centennial Celebration Led by the legendary trumpeter’s nephew and drummer Vincent Wilburn, Jr., the group features many of the commanding musicians Davis tapped for his various jazz-rock ensembles. Sammy, who is mentioned multiple times in Miles Davis' autobiography played with Miles during his Man With A Horn period.

Step into a sultry summer night of cool tropical sounds as legendary percussionist Sammy Figueroa pays tribute to Cal Tjader, the original king of Latin jazz, celebrating his 100th birthday.

On August 20th 2025, Faena Theater comes alive with the shimmering sounds of the vibraphone and the swinging Latin percussion that made Tjader a jazz icon. Sammy brings back the nostalgic sound of Tjader's iconic quintet with Willie Bobo and Mongo Santamaria with an all-star ensemble featuring Latin Grammy winner Felipe Fournier, pianist Tal Cohen, bassist Agustin Conti and Reinier Guerra on drums.

Sammy Figueroa kicks off Hispanic Heritage month with a tribute to the musician who transformed Latin jazz in the 1960's. Hosting an ensemble of Denver's best Latin jazz players they'll be playing tunes like The Continental, Mambo Mindoro, Alonso and Tjader's Grammy-winning hit Soul Sauce (Guachi Guara).

Sammy Figueroa returns to one of his favorite venues with a tribute to the cool tropical jazz of vibes player Cal Tjader during his Latin jazz period with sidemen such as Mongo Santamaria and Joe Cuba. Sammy Figueroa brings his sextet to the River City Jazz Masters Series at Baton Rouge's primary arts venue in the heart of Cajun country.

Sammy joins the amazing producer, playwright, musician/composer and Guggenheim Fellow Cesar Alvarez in a mind-expanding concert performance of Alvarez’s new musical about how to recuperate from trauma that happened to you before you were even born. Alvarez was born into a community of communist labor organizers who had survived the brutal murders of five of their members by the KKK in 1979—known as the Greensboro Massacre. Thirty-six years later, Alvarez has crafted The Potluck, a musical about ghosts, queerness, how to recuperate from trauma that happened to you before you were even born, and also capitalism. Directed by Sarah Benson and created in collaboration with designer and visual artist Emily Orling, Sammy joins the band and brings a special presence to this unique presentation.

On November 3, 1979, five communist labor organizers were murdered in broad daylight in the streets of Greensboro, N.C., by a group of KKK and Nazis. All five of the victims had committed their lives to fighting the rule of the capitalist class. The murders had been planned and supported by paid informants of the Greensboro Police and agencies within the U.S. government. One year later in Greensboro, César James Alvarez was born into the survivor community and named after two of the victims, César Cauce and James Waller. 36 years after that an “entertainment” company paid César to write a musical about the Greensboro Massacre, but it turned into a musical about ghosts and queerness and feelings and how to recuperate from trauma that happened to you before you were even born, and also capitalism.

Join us for this concert version of The Potluck with a incredible cast of New York-based performers, along with a visual accompaniment by the artist and designer Emily Orling.
